Dear valued business partner
As preparations for the national lockdown continue, I wanted to update on the latest requirements for companies that need to continue to deliver essential services during this time.
On Thursday 25 March 2020, Minister of Trade and Industry Ebrahim Patel announced that businesses allowed to provide essential services were required to seek approval from the department of trade, industry and competition (DTIC) in order for them to trade during lockdown. He said such businesses were required to apply to the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission’s (CIPC) BizPortal website to obtain a certificate from the commission that allowed them to continue trading.
The website to register your company on is www.bizportal.gov.za
Upon registration you will receive certificate via email stating that the business is allowed to remain trading. This will facilitate our ability to continue to do business with you during the lockdown period.
In addition, should you require employees to travel to any of our locations in order to carry out essential activities, I have attached an example of a permit you may copy onto your company letter head use to certify that they are allowed to travel. These employees must carry personal identity documents with them at all times. Dressing in company uniforms where applicable will also help to identify them.
